I keep reading rave reviews and posts everywhere (except from the apple crowd, of course) but all things considered, I have to say that Windows 7 is Microsoft's worst effort yet. I can only assume the gold release will cause my pc to burst into flame. My hardware is nothing exotic, there is no reason on earth that this should not work as well or better than the beta. This is also reflective of Microsoft's piss poor quality control. This is frustrating as _ because the beta worked fine. I have re-downloaded/burned the installation image. Microsoft's latest iteration of its flagship OS? Nada. I power down and reinstall my XP disk and the system boots fine. I can't even get into the BIOS because the bootup hasn't yet reached the BIOS setup prompt.

After the first reboot, I get a solid (non-blinking) cursor in the upper left corner BEFORE the system POST and then it freezes.
